Date Night--for One!

This time, last year, was exactly one week before our wedding.  There were so many parties to go to, and so many last minute things to do.  It was exciting!  Next week, J has something special planned for our one year anniversary.  And I am so looking forward to it.  I have no idea what he has planned, but, I can't wait!

Even though we are now married, J and I enjoy some time apart.  I love him more than one person could love another, but I still cherish my "Me Time".  In fact, I think it's healthy to have time by yourself, regardless of your relationship status.  So, this weekend, J is at a friend's cabin in Northern Michigan, and I'm home by myself.

I'm having a Date Night, Just For Me edition.

I spent the morning chatting with friends, catching up on each others' lives, and setting up times to meet up.  I spent the afternoon hanging out with my cats and going through my closet.  I would say "cleaning out", but yeah, that didn't happen.  Because, I realized that there was no way I could put anything away
-- I planned on wearing EVERYTHING soon.  Right?  Riiiiight? ;)

And around 7 pm, I poured myself a glass of delicious red wine (Sangiovese),
put on my Domestic Diva (!!) apron, and cooked a scrumpdiliumptious chicken stir fry.

What can I say, Perfect Date Night,
For One.

Cuddling with my baby panther.
I love him so much!

This dress was one of my purchases from last Sunday.
And it was only $25.  Great deal--I love it!

I'm really digging lace lately...

This ring is pretty old.  I bought it at a random store at the mall when I was in my late teens.
But, turquoise *always* works.

A chunky necklace I bought at a local grocery store, a few years back.

Ready to cook!

Looks delish, right?

Ta Da!
Dinner, for one.

Crème de la crème

After not shopping for a few months, I woke up last Sunday morning just itching to shop.
I wasn't looking for anything in particular.  I just wanted to lose myself in racks of amazing clothing and accessories!

I opted to wear something cute, but easy to change in and out of.

The shopping trip turned out to be a huge success!  I bought a new VS bra, a cute shirt, a couple of skinny belts, and a lace dress from Forever 21.  I can't wait to share them with you!

Spring Fling!

Every once in a while, when I'm shopping, something really catches my eye.

That's exactly what happened when I saw these scalloped lace shorts at Forever21,
I just had to have them.

You can see why, below
...
They are to die for!
:)

What I love about these shorts is that they are so feminine (almost skirt-like!),
yet they are very easy to wear and pair.

Throw on a a simple tank,
a long cardi,
a dainty pair of flats,
and some accessories
...

...
and you're all set for a fabulous Spring day!

Easter fun!

J and I have a tradition of spending Easter with his family.
Our Easter weekends usually include going out the night before, and spending Easter day gorging ourselves on delicious home-made food and desserts.

J's mom even gives each of us Easter baskets.
(Yes, we're all in our mid to late 20's.)
;)

Pretty awesome, right?!

Not sure what I'm doing here.
Haha!

End of the night
:)

My Easter outfit

I absolutely adore the floral detail of this cardigan.
It's soft and feminine, and perfect for Spring.

How was your weekend?  Did you celebrate Easter, or do anything fun?

Do you still get Easter baskets?  (And more importantly, can you control yourself from eating the contents in one sitting?)

April showers bring... polka dots!

Hello?  Sun?
Where did you go?

Contrary to last weekend, the weather this weekend is wet, sloppy, and COLD.

So, last night, while getting dressed for a dinner and movie date with the hubs, I decided that if Spring wasn't going to come to me, I'd come to it.

A pair of blue boots, a polka dotted skirt, and a bright yellow bag later,
I think I accomplished what I had set out to do. ;)

White frilly tank top- American Eagle
Denim jacket- Forever 21
High-waisted polka dot skirt- Forever 21

Retro Lovin'

Every once in a while my fashion taste does a complete 180.
Not only are these changes in taste unexpected, but they make my love for fashion and style that much stronger and infinitely more fun.

So, what am I in love with now?

Retro
retro
RETRO!

40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's are all the rage in my little fashion world right now.

Polka dots
stripes
wide leg jeans
tucked in shirts
loose sweaters
colorful belts
skinny jeans with espadrilles
fun skirts
and
.....
turbans??

Yes, please!

My turn...

It took me about a half hour to figure out how to make my scarf into a turban.
Voila!

Encounters with celebrities--by a star-struck girl! :)

As you know, I've been visiting my family in L.A. for the past two week.  In short, it has been AWESOME!

I've eaten tons of delicious foods that I can't get back at home, I've accomplished some marathon shopping with my Mom, enjoyed the wonderful weather, had some major fun with my family, and met celebrities at a VIP Sony event that my brother was invited to.

Fabulous!!

So, instead of boring you with a snooze-fest of text, I'll share some highlights of the Sony event!

My brother runs a fantastic site called SonyRumors.net.  He got invited to cover a VIP Sony store opening and took me as his guest.
It was really fun, and we were introduced to new Sony products.  Oh and did I mention... we met tons of celebrities?!
I was insanely star-struck, and I did not try to hide it!  I was totally fine with playing the "Hi, can I take a picture with you?!  I don't usually see celebrities in Michigan!" card.
Hee!!

The red carpet.

My brother, having a fruitful conversation with the VP of Sony.
Me recording it, via the Sony Bloggie. :)

Me assisting in photography for SonyRumors.net!

We met Adrian Grenier from Entourage!

Mark from DWTS

Chelsie from DWTS

Ali & Roberto from The Bachelorette

My bro with Anthony Anderson

We chatted up Craig Robinson from The Office!

He was super nice & extremely TALL
(The latter, being the first thing I told him when I spoke with him. "OMG!  You are SOOO tall."  Smooth, Yasi, smooooth.)

Finally, a full outfit shot. =)
Dress & bangels: H&M
Purse: Louis Vuitton
Riding boots: Macy's

Me & another guest-- we liked each other's outfits & naturally gravitated toward each other.
;)

My bro & I with our swag bags! =)

Overall, my trip to L.A. has been amazing, and I promise to follow up with more pictures of fun stuff!

Have a fabulous Friday!!

Traveling lightly, while staying fashionable

I have another confession.

I have a problem.

I'm a truly, absolutely, RIDICULOUS PACKER.

Even when I go on overnight trips I stuff my mini suitcase with multiple pairs of jeans, shoes, sweaters, shirts, etc.  But you see, it's not because I love carrying these things with me.  It's because I always want to be prepared!  Disco night at your local bar?  Let me just pull out my afro wig! ;)

With an upcoming 2-week trip to Los Angeles to visit my family, I was forced to think of ways to pack lightly.  The main reason for this is because I'm taking the relatively cheap Spirit airlines, and I'm only allowed 1 personal item on the plane (or I have to pay for extra), and each suitcase is about $30.  Holy cow, those are a lot of extra charges!!  I'm used to having my back pack, purse, and carry-on suitcase *with* me, and I always put an extra piece of luggage in my large suitcase, so I can bring a bunch of stuff back home with me.  Well, friends, that ain't happening this year.

I figured it would be a fun project to put together multiple Spring outfits, using the least amount of pieces (and space!).  And I must say that I definitely succeeded! =)  The key was to pack interesting, and most importantly, *neutral* pieces that would go together effortlessly.

I used 12 pieces (not including accessories), and made 12 different outfits (many more to be created, I'm sure).  Most of the outfit pictures include the boots, but I could have worn the flats instead.

Here are the numbers:

-2 jackets
-1 light cardigan
-2 light sweaters (white and tan)
-4 tank tops (white, grey, black, beige and white striped)
-2 skirts (grey, black and white polka dot)
-1 wool shorts

Accessories:
-1 scarf
-1 belt
-1 pair of riding boots
-1 pair of flats
-1 satchel
-3 pairs of tights (grey, brown, black)

All in all, a VERY small pile.
Success, I say!  Greeeeat success! =)
